The Magahau Rungus Festival is an annual event showcasing traditions and culture of the Rungus people. During the launch, rituals are held, including the Mongingivit as well as the highly-anticipated Strongman Competition. The Rungus people perform the Mongigol Sumundai dance and local beauties compete in the Mitarab Gimpuhut, a Rungus beauty pageant. Don't miss the closing ceremony at the end of the month. 

A statewide art selection program to add to the existing collection at the Sabah Art Gallery. Artists are encouraged to submit their works. Entry forms are available at the Sabah Art Gallery and all submission centres throughout Sabah.

 

 The founding of Sandakan on 21 June  1897 ushered in a period of development that turned this coastal village into a booming centre of trade, industry and tourism. Gather at the Sandakan Municipal Council  Square on Sandakan Founding Day for an insight on Sandakan's fascinating history and its modern-day accomplishments.
